Oregon weight-mile tax calculator
Oregon charges vehicles over 26,000 lb declared weight by the mile instead of a diesel tax. Type each truck's declared weight, its axles if it runs over 80,000 lb, and its Oregon miles for the quarter.
Sample data: a made-up quarter for one 80,000 lb tractor, so you can see the result. Type your own weight and miles.

How it works
Form 735-9928, rates effective January 1, 2024: Table A gives one rate per 2,000 lb group from 26,001 to 80,000 lb; Table B gives a rate by declared combined weight and number of axles from 80,001 to 105,500 lb (five axles stop at 98,000 lb, six at 100,000 lb). Empty returns pay at the same declared weight as loaded. Tax = Oregon miles x the rate in dollars (mills / 1,000): the form's own example is 1,000 miles at 32,000 lb x $0.0846 = $84.60.
Sample data: 1,000 Oregon miles at 80,000 lb x $0.2512 = $251.20.
Reports are monthly unless you applied (form 9030) to file quarterly. Quarterly reports for July to September 2026 are due Monday, November 30, 2026; a weekend or holiday due date moves to the next business day. Not covered here: flat-fee commodity rates (logs, wood chips, sand and gravel) and permits over 105,500 lb. From July 1, 2027 ten rates by registered weight replace these tables: what changes in 2027.
